NEW YORK, February 11. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump has said that major progress has been made in the settlement process of the Ukrainian conflict.
"I think we’ve made tremendous progress in the last week. We’re dealing with the Russians, we’re dealing with the Ukrainians. I think there is going to be something," he said in an interview with Fox News.
The US leader was asked whether he could bring both sides of the conflict to the negotiating table. "I think, it’s going to happen," he responded.
Trump once again expressed displeasure with the fact that Europe spends on Ukraine far less than Washington. "The United States is in for more than $300 billion, probably 350, and Europe’s in for probably a hundred billion. <…> We are in for more than twice, maybe even three times what they are. <…> [Former US President Joe] Biden should have never let that happen," he emphasized, also criticizing the insufficient defense spending of NATO countries. "NATO was very unfair, and I made it fair [after taking office in 2017]. I said, look, if you don’t pay, we are not going to defend you," the US president said.
