Trump’s order sanctioning ICC to protect US, Israel — Netanyahu

The Israeli premier also thanked the US president for his "bold order sanctioning the ICC"

TEL AVIV, February 7. /TASS/. US President Donald Trump’s executive order sanctioning the International Criminal Court (ICC) will protect the sovereignty of the United States and Israel, the Jewish state’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said.

"The ICC unleashed a relentless campaign against Israel as a test for similar actions against America. President Trump's order protects the sovereignty of both countries, as well as their brave soldiers. It will protect America and Israel against the corrupt, anti-American, and anti-Semitic court, which has no jurisdiction or grounds to start ‘legal wars,’" Netanyahu’s office quoted him as saying.

The Israeli premier also thanked the US president for his "bold order sanctioning the ICC."

Trump signed the document on Thursday. The US administration accused the ICC of taking illegal actions against Washington and its allies such as Israel. US media outlets reported earlier that the order made it possible to impose financial and visa restrictions on ICC members involved in investigations against US citizens or US allies, as well as on their family members.

On November 21, 2024, the ICC Pre-Trial Chamber issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged involvement in war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Palestine, namely in the Gaza Strip, at least between October 8, 2023, and May 20, 2024.
