"After the training of personnel, it will be possible to start directly with the construction of facilities," Genet Teshome Jirru said

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. The construction of a nuclear power plant in Ethiopia with Rosatom's participation is making good progress, Ambassador of Ethiopia in Moscow Genet Teshome Jirru said in an interview with TASS.

"Progress is going very well. <...> An agreement has now been signed on the establishment of an appropriate institute, as qualified specialists are of key importance for nuclear energy," the ambassador said. "Step by step, the process is moving in the right direction. After the training of personnel, it will be possible to start directly with the construction of facilities," he added.

He recalled that in 2019 the governments of Russia and Ethiopia signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy, and in 2023 the Rosatom state corporation developed a corresponding roadmap together with the Ethiopian side.
