Shooting takes place at Abkhazia's parliament, kills one lawmaker

One of the two injured lawmakers, Vakhtang Golandzia, died from wounds sustained in the shooting

SUKHUM, December 19. /TASS/. A shooting occurred near the building of the Abkhazian Parliament, leaving several people injured, a source from the republic's General Prosecutor's Office told TASS on Thursday.

"A shooting occurred at the parliament. According to preliminary information, two deputies were injured," the source said.

Later, it was confirmed that the shooting took place inside the parliament building during a closed meeting. Preliminary information suggests that the shooter was Adgur Kharazia, one of the Abkhazian MPs. One of the two injured lawmakers, Vakhtang Golandzia, died from wounds sustained in the shooting. The other, Kan Kvarchia, is receiving the necessary treatment, the Abkhazian Health Ministry's press service reported.
