TBILISI, November 30. /TASS/. Forty-two officers of the Georgian Ministry of Interior sustained severe injuries as a result of violent actions of protesters in Tbilisi, Deputy Minister of Interior Alexander Darakhvelidze said at a briefing.
"During the two days, 42 employees of the Interior Ministry were injured heavily as a result of violent actions of protesters. They were transferred to medical institutions with various injuries, including burns and fractured bones," he said.
Groups of protesters in the aggressive mood continuously gathered large stones and construction debris in Rustaveli Avenue to throw them into policemen, the deputy minister said. Law enforcement officers had to use special equipment to disperse protesters from the area adjacent to the parliament.
Large-scale protest actions took place in Georgia over the last two days, evolving into clashes between protesters and law enforcement officers at night of November 29 and 30.
