MOSCOW, November 20. /TASS/. The US Embassy in Kiev will suspend operations on November 20 due to potential security threats, and US citizens have been urged to be ready to seek shelter.
"Out of an abundance of caution, the Embassy will be closed <…> The US Embassy recommends that US citizens be prepared to immediately seek shelter in the event an air alert is announced," the statement on the official embassy website said. It was reported that the embassy had received information about a possible security threat on November 20.
Andrey Kovalenko, head of the disinformation-countering branch of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, responded to this announcement by noting that it is understandable to consider security measures and react to air raid warnings.
Since the beginning of the day, air alerts have sounded in Kiev three times, with several explosions occurring in the city. Sirens were active in the region for 11 consecutive hours overnight.
