MOSCOW, March 15. /TASS/. The Russian army uses heavy artillery in the special military operation area twice or even thrice as often as Ukraine’s, says Mikhail Podolyak, advisor to the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office.
"Intense action is taking place at the frontline of 700 to 800 km. Our side uses between 1,500 and 3,500 shells, while the Russian side uses between 7,500 and 12,000 shells of heavy caliber alone daily," he said on Ukrainian TV. He specified that these figures do not include small-caliber guns, mortars, drones, missiles and aviation.
Kiev has repeatedly stated the shortage of ammunition, especially for Soviet-made 152-mm and 122-mm guns, as well as for Stormer, Avenger and Stinger missile air defense systems.
Western partners, who have increased arms shipments to Ukraine multifold since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation, acknowledge, however, that they are unable to completely fulfill Kiev’s demands for ammunition. Meanwhile, Ukraine is trying to shift responsibility for the failures of the Ukrainian troops on its allies, justifying them by "delayed delivery of munitions.".
