NEW DELHI, March 8. /TASS/. India would like the Ukrainian conflict to end, but believes that it will not end on the battlefield, Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar told reporters during his visit in Tokyo.
"We have been very clear. My Prime Minister [Narendra Modi] has stood next to President Putin and has said that we do not believe that this is an era of war. We are today to resolve this conflict," he said, adding that every conflict ends when certain people come to a negotiation table.
According to the foreign minister, a conflict can be decided on the battlefield, "but we don't think this conflict will be decided on the battlefield."
After the beginning of the special military operation in Ukraine, India assumed a neutral position and did not join the Western sanctions against Moscow.
