Top Chinese diplomat warns US against being focused on containing China

BEIJING, March 7. /TASS/. The United States will do harm to itself if it is too much obsessed with containing China, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said.

"The United States’ problem is the United States itself rather than China. If they focus too much on containing China, they will do harm to themselves in the long run," he said.

"We insist that the United States acknowledge the trend of historical development, view China’s development objectively and rationally, develop ties with China actively and pragmatically, fulfil its promises and keep its actions consistent with its words," Wang said and called on the United States "to work together with China to promote bilateral relations along the path of stable, healthy and sustainable development."
