PRAGUE, February 21. /TASS/. After February 24, 2022, the Czech Republic introduced about 200 relaxations to the sanctions imposed against Russia, Ceska televize 24 reported citing the head of the financial and analytical department of the Czech Republic, Jiri Gilmar.
"The vast majority of exceptions [to the sanctions] were in the pharmaceutical and nuclear energy industries," Gilmar said.
Mostly state-owned and quasi-state companies interested in strategic resources or components from banned Russian entities applied to the authorities for relaxations in the sanctions regime. Thanks to the granted exceptions, the company operator of the Dukovany and Temelin nuclear power plants operating in the republic acquires the products of the construction company MSA stationed in the Czech Republic. MSA was part of the TMK company, which belonged to businessman Dmitry Pumpyansky until March 2022.
The financial and analytical department of the Czech Republic is part of the Ministry of Finance and ensures compliance with sanctions against the Russian Federation in the country. The department was established on January 1, 2017.
