WASHINGTON, January 11. /TASS/. Ukraine will need significant financing in the amount of $42 billion this year, IMF spokeswoman Julie Kozack announced this at a regular briefing for journalists.
"With respect to the questions on funding, Ukraine's financing needs do remain substantial for 2024. We expect that we estimate that the country will need financing of about $42 billion, including official donor support of about $32 billion," she said.
"And it is of course essential that Ukraine's donors and partners ensure that their financial commitments are met and that Ukraine receives the financing necessary to support macroeconomic stability in the country," she added.
Kozack noted the reduction of inflation in Ukraine from almost 27% in 2022 to 6% in 2023.
Last December, Ukraine received another tranche of $900 million from the IMF under the extended lending mechanism approved in March. In late June, the fund's Board of Executive Directors decided to provide Ukraine with a second tranche of $890 million under the four-year extended lending facility. The IMF previously approved a four-year program for Ukraine under this mechanism with financing in the amount of $15.6 billion. The first tranche of $2.7 billion entered the general fund of the state budget of Ukraine on April 3.
