G7 ministers discuss protection against information leaks, combating child pornography

In addition, the meeting focused on modern types of crimes that involve artificial intelligence and neural networks

TOKYO, December 9. /TASS/. G7 ministers of internal affairs and heads of security agencies discussed economic security, protection against information and technology leaks and countering the dissemination of child pornography, NHK reported.

The three-day meeting kicked off in Japan on Friday; a joint outcome document is expected to be adopted on Sunday.

"I would like to reaffirm the decisive unity of the G7, aimed at countering crime and protecting the society," says Yoshifumi Matsumura, head of the National Commission on Social Security and chairman of the meeting.

During the first main day of the negotiations, the sides discussed countering cybercrime and sexual exploitation of children, including child pornography. In addition, the meeting focused on modern types of crimes that involve artificial intelligence and neural networks.

Japan presides over the G7 this year. The G7 Summit took place in Hiroshima earlier in May. In 2024, the presidency will shift to Italy. According to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the Italian presidency will focus on Africa and the migration issue. The G7 meeting will take place in Apulia on June 13-15.
