Netanyahu will not escape punishment for crimes in Gaza — Erdogan

"If international law is properly respected and these war crimes are punished, this decision will set an example for all oppressors both in the Palestinian region and in other parts of the world," the Turkish leader pointed out

ISTANBUL, December 6. /TASS/. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed the certainty that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not escape criminal punishment for war crimes committed in Gaza.

"Netanyahu will not escape punishment for what he has done. Sooner or later he will face justice and pay for the war crimes he has committed," he told the media upon his return from Qatar, where he took part in the summit of Gulf leaders on December 5.

"If international law is properly respected and these war crimes are punished, this decision will set an example for all oppressors both in the Palestinian region and in other parts of the world," the Anadolu news agency quotes Erdogan as saying.

"However, if we leave this unnoticed and do not monitor our appeal [to the International Criminal Court], this will open the door to more acts of genocides. Therefore, we will keep an eye on this issue and will do our utmost to ensure that the perpetrators of the Gaza genocide be brought to justice," Erdogan said.
