Death toll in Middle East conflict exceeds 15,800, Gaza Health Ministry says

"We demand that hospitals, medical teams and humanitarian [personnel] be protected," the spokesman noted

CAIRO, December 4. /TASS/. The death toll in the Gaza Strip since the escalation of the conflict with Israel began on October 7 has exceeded 15,800, 42,000 people have been injured, the Palestinian enclave's Health Ministry said.

"The number of fatalities since the beginning of the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip has risen to 15,899," the Al Jazeera TV channel quoted a ministry spokesman as saying. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, the number of injured in the enclave has risen to 42,000.

"Israel's ongoing brutal aggression has completely crippled the health system in Gaza," the spokesman said. "We demand that hospitals, medical teams and humanitarian [personnel] be protected," he added.

On December 3, the Gaza Health Ministry said that since tensions escalated, the number of fatalities in the enclave has exceeded 15,500, with more than 41,000 people injured. In addition, 56 ambulances and 56 medical facilities have been destroyed.

On the morning of December 1, the Israeli army accused the radical Palestinian movement Hamas of violating the ceasefire and announced that it was resuming combat operations in the Gaza Strip. Palestinian officials blamed the US for the renewed Israeli aggression.
