Number of Palestinians detained in West Bank since October 7 tops 3,300

It is also noted that the occupiers detained dozens of people in the settlement of Biddu

CAIRO, November 30. /TASS/. The number of Palestinians that have been detained by Israeli security forces in the West Bank since October 7 has exceeded 3,000, according to the Palestinian Commission for Prisoners' Affairs.

According to the commission, "at least 40 citizens in the West Bank" were detained over the past 24 hours. The operations were mainly carried out in Hebron, Bethlehem and Jerusalem.

"In addition, the occupiers detained dozens of people in the settlement of Biddu. We have not yet been able to confirm their number and the identities," the commission said in a statement on Facebook (banned in Russia as it’s owned by Meta Corporation, which is designated as an extremist organization in Russia).

As a result, "the total number of detentions since October 7 has increased to more than 3,365," the commission said.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7. Hamas has cast the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel has declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and started a military operation there. Israel also strikes parts of Lebanon and Syria in retaliation for bombardments originating from these countries. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
