BEIRUT, November 23. /TASS/. The Israeli army hit residential buildings in the city of Khan Yunis in the south of the Gaza Strip, the Al Jazeera TV channel reported.
According to its information, five buildings came under fire. At least 15 people were killed. Several people are reported missing.
On November 22, the Palestinian movement Hamas announced that with the mediation efforts of Egypt and Qatar it had reached an agreement with Israel for a four-day humanitarian ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. According to Hamas official Mousa Abu Marzouk, the ceasefire will take effect on November 23 at 10:00 local time (8:00 a.m. GMT).
Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when Hamas militants staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip, killing residents of Israeli border settlements and taking over 200 hostages, including women, children and the elderly. Hamas described its attack as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has announced a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and has been delivering air strikes on Gaza as well as some parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
