The confrontation between Israel and the Palestinian radical movement Hamas will be front and center during a meeting of the 27 European Union foreign ministers on Monday in Brussels. According to a senior EU official, the foreign ministers will also discuss the situation in the Middle East and possible steps by Brussels in the medium term.
The conflict in Ukraine and all related concerns, including financial and military support and security guarantees for the country, will be another major focus of the EU Council meeting.
According to the diplomat, there is no guarantee that the 12th package of sanctions on Russia would be discussed on Monday since there are still open questions on the new measures and internal discussions continue.
The ministers will also talk about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, specifically the peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as EU support for Yerevan.
