Ukraine sends untrained civilians to die on battlefields — Medvedev

MOSCOW, November 9. /TASS/. Ukraine is sending untrained civilians to the frontline, average joes who have been taken from their normal lives and given automatic rifles, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, said during his visit to the Alabino training ground near Moscow.

"Our enemy is now sending good-for-nothing recruits to the frontline. They were given automatic rifles and told to go ahead. It is clear what this has led to," he pointed out.

The general mobilization announced in Ukraine has already triggered a string of scandals. The media regularly publish stories about how military officials use force against conscripts, how people unfit for service due to health reasons are mobilized, as well as about how legislators and officials evade service themselves and take their conscription-age sons abroad.

In July, the head of the regional military enlistment office in Lvov said that only 20% of the required number of persons liable for military service voluntarily agreed to join the army. Amid public discontent, President Vladimir Zelensky in August dismissed all regional military commissars.
