At least 19 people killed in shelling of refugee camp in Gaza — Interior Ministry

According to reports, rescue teams have pulled 35 bodies from under the rubble of destroyed buildings in Jabalia

CAIRO, November 8. /TASS/. At least 19 people were killed in Israel’s strike on the Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Interior Ministry wrote on its Telegram channel.

According to the ministry, the shelling hit a residential building in the middle of the camp, which has come under repeated attack since the new round of escalation in the Middle East conflict broke out on October 7. The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that in the past day, rescue teams have pulled 35 bodies from under the rubble of destroyed buildings in Jabalia. They collapsed several days ago when Israel shelled a residential neighborhood near a mosque in the center of the camp.

Tensions flared up in the Middle East after Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip attacked Israeli territory on October 7. Hamas views its attack as a response to Israeli authorities’ steps against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and launched bombardments of the enclave and some areas in Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also reported in the West Bank. On October 27, Israel Defense Forces Spokesman Daniel Hagari said the IDF was expanding its ground operation in Gaza.
