CAIRO, October 14. /TASS/. Dozens of foreigners from a variety of countries have been flocking to the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, Sada El Balad reported.
According to the news website, groups of foreigners inside Gaza have headed towards the Rafah land crossing. A small crowd can be seen next to the checkpoint, which is still closed from the Gaza Strip.
The website did not specify from which countries are the people at the Rafah crossing.
It was earlier reported that Gaza sources told the Al-Qahera al-Ihbariya television channel that Egypt had allegedly "barred foreigners in Palestine’s Strip from passing through the Rafah land crossing." According to eyewitnesses, some foreigners have already been waiting for several hours to be allowed to enter Egypt. The TV channel’s sources also claimed that the Egyptian authorities’ decision was based on their stance that "the checkpoint cannot serve as a crossing from Gaza exclusively for foreigners," and that "it [the crossing] is meant to make aid deliveries to the Palestinian enclave easier".
