MOSCOW, April 9. /TASS/. Opponents of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) tried to size the UOC cathedral in the city of Kamenets-Podolsky in Ukraine’s western Khmelnitsky Region, the UOC said on Sunday.
"An attempt is being made to seize the cathedral in Kamenets-Podolsky. Witnesses say that police are ignoring calls," it said. "On local Facebook (outlawed in Russia as belonging to the Meta corporation, which has been recognized as extremist in Russian - TASS) accounts, UOC opponents have been calling for storming the cathedral since yesterday. Moreover, they are spreading false information about the church."
The UOC posted a video on its Telegram channel featuring a group of people with a black-and-red flag of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN, outlawed in Russia) attempting to break into the Kamenets-Podolsky cathedral and the worshipers trying to stop them.
On April 3, Kamenets-Podolsky and Khmelnitsky city legislatures passed resolutions to strip the UOC of the right to use land plots under its church buildings.
