TEHRAN, April 7. /TASS/. Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with his Chinese counterpart Qin Gang in Beijing on Thursday, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said.
The ministers discussed cooperation between the countries in such areas as energy, finances, banking, trade and culture, according to a statement that the Iranian ministry’s statement posted to Telegram. Amir-Abdollahian reaffirmed Tehran’s aspiration to "continue strengthening the partnership" with Beijing, expressing hope that the partnership will develop at an accelerated pace, according to the statement.
The statement said the Iranian foreign minister invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Iran. Qin Gang accepted the invitation, according to the Iranian ministry.
Earlier on Thursday, Amir-Abdollahian met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud in Beijing, and they issued a joint statement following the talks. The sides reaffirmed the previous agreements to reopen their embassies and consulates in the countries, the plan to hold consultations to expand cooperation, resume flights and ease visa issuance. In addition, the Saudi minister invited Amir-Abdollahian to hold talks in Riyadh. The Iranian minister accepted the invitation and suggested that the Saudi counterpart make a reciprocal visit to Tehran.
