Xi Jinping urges to abandon sanctions to settle Ukraine crisis

According to the President of China, his country initially adhered to a consistent and clear position on the crisis in Ukraine

BEIJING, March 31. /TASS/. China’s leader Xi Jinping called to abandon extreme sanctions in order to settle the Ukrainian crisis during a meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez in Beijing on Friday.

"It is necessary to exclude the Cold War mentality and bloc standoff and abandon the policy of introducing extreme sanctions and putting pressure," Xi said, as quoted by China’s Foreign Ministry.

"We hope that interested parties will be able to build a balanced, effective and stable mechanism ensuring security in Europe through dialogue and consultations," the Chinese leader added.

According to him, China has been adhering to a consistent and clear stance on the Ukrainian crisis from the start, urging to facilitate the negotiation process and political settlement.
