Belarus always advocated nuclear disarmament, non-proliferation — UN envoy

UNITED NATIONS, March 31. /TASS/. Belarus is a consistent advocate of disarmament and non-proliferation, its contribution to this process is indisputable, Belarusian Permanent Representative to the UN Valentin Rybakov said Friday.

"The Republic of Belarus is a consistent advocate of nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. Its contribution to nuclear disarmament is apparent and indisputable. Its importance has repeatedly been confirmed in numerous papers, negotiated both in bilateral and multilateral formats," he said, speaking at the UN Security Council meeting.

Rybakov added that "the Belarusian side is a staunch supporter of constructive and respectful dialogue, aimed at strengthening of regional and global security, multilateral mechanisms of disarmament, non-proliferation and arms control, including in the nuclear area."

He noted that "President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko repeatedly publically called to hold such wide multilateral dialogue in the spirit of San-Francisco."
