Zelensky meets with US Treasury secretary in Kiev

Vladimir Zelensky thanked Yellen for "systemic steps to build up the pressure of sanctions" by the US with respect to Russia and expressed hope sanctions would be reinforced

MOSCOW, February 27. /TASS/. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky on Monday met with United States Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen in Kiev and they discussed US financial support to Ukraine and sanctions on Russia.

"Important meeting with US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen," he said on Telegram.

He wrote that Ukraine appreciates "strong support" from the US, including "on the financial front."

Zelensky thanked Yellen for "systemic steps to build up the pressure of sanctions" by the US with respect to Russia and expressed hope sanctions would be reinforced.

The treasury secretary said in Kiev that the US sees serious hurdles for confiscating major Russian assets that had been frozen, Reuters reported earlier.
