Europe lost its independence, military capacity over Ukraine conflict, Hungarian PM says

The Hungarian prime minister also believes that Europe has weakened because the Biden administration is "imposing its interests on Brussels at the expense of European interests," Magyar Nemzet reports

BUDAPEST, February 23. /TASS/. Europe has lost its independence as well as economic and military might over the Ukrainian conflict and the US’ aspiration to use it in its own interests, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at a meeting with lawmakers from the ruling coalition in Balatonfured on Wednesday.

According to the Magyar Nemzet newspaper, the politician said that Europe grew weaker because the Biden administration had "imposed its interests on Brussels harming European interests" and a "sanctions tsunami" is destroying the EU’s economy while the US, rich with cheap energy products, remains unaffected. He also pointed out that the EU’s military capacity is growing weaker because EU countries sent a significant part of their weapons to Ukraine without being able to replenish their stockpiles.

According to Orban, "Europe has lost its independence and economic and military might in less than a year." He thinks that in light of this, Hungary should be guided by its own interests in order to emerge "unharmed and stronger" from this situation, which will involve retaining its political independence and adhering to non-interference in the Ukrainian conflict.
