MOSCOW, February 17. /TASS/. Warsaw is trying hard to conceal evidence of the mass participation of Polish citizens in military activities in Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Friday.
"Warsaw is trying hard to conceal evidence proving that a large number of its citizens are participating in military activities in Ukraine with the direct encouragement of the authorities, though it is a blatant violation of Polish laws," the diplomat pointed out.
According to Zakharova, Poland has also been involved in the training of Ukrainian militants for decades. "They trained those who later pretended to be peaceful protestors but in fact committed atrocities and murders, particularly during the 2014 Maidan events," she noted.
"Such actions by Warsaw clearly indicate the political adventurism that is typical for the Polish regime. By the way, this is what has repeatedly plunged the country into disaster," the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stressed.
Zakharova also emphasized that Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak had avoided a direct answer when asked during a TV broadcast about Polish nationals’ involvement in military activities in Ukraine. "His answer was that he saw no problem in that. What a high level of democracy! They do call it democracy, don’t they, when no clear answers are given to direct questions. In fact, there is currently no direct communication between the authorities and the media in the West," Zakharova concluded.
