Belarusian President does not rule out emergence of new reserve currency

Alexander Lukashenko noted that "Arabs are beginning to influence politics in the world more and more"

MINSK, February 16. /TASS/. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko does not rule out the emergence of a new reserve currency in the world. He voiced his view talking to reporters in Minsk on Thursday.

"The Middle East is very influential, its role is huge now. So, we discussed one of the issues in this regard with the President of the Emirates. Today, there is a trend in the world that a new reserve currency will appear. Or maybe several ones," Lukashenko said as quoted by the BelTA news agency.

He noted that in America money is everything, "if not everything, then a lot, that’s for sure," and as for the Middle East and "an additional point of support," then "Arabs are beginning to influence politics in the world more and more."

In early February, Lukashenko was on a visit to Abu Dhabi, where he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The meeting lasted about four hours.
