KIEV, February 7. /TASS/. German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius has arrived in Ukraine and held a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Alexey Reznikov, RBC-Ukraine reported on Tuesday.
"The 'first' Leopard 2 tank has arrived in Kiev. There will be more of them," Reznikov wrote on his Twitter page.
On January 25, the US authorities announced their intention to transfer 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Kiev. On the same day, the German government confirmed that it would send 14 Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and issue permission to other countries to re-export such vehicles. According to Pistorius, Leopard 2 will be dispatched to Ukraine "before the end of March." Britain, Norway, Poland, Slovakia and France also announced their intention to provide Western-made tanks to Ukraine. Kiev expects to receive up to 140 tanks from 12 states as the first batch.
