Poland may provide its Leopard tanks to Ukraine within weeks — Defense Ministry

Earlier, the decision to provide Kiev with tanks was announced by Britain, France and Poland. Warsaw declared it would dispatch to Ukraine one armor company

WARSAW, January 26. /TASS/. The Polish authorities may hand over Leopard tanks to Ukraine within the next few weeks, Deputy Defense Minister Wojciech Skurkiewicz said on Radio Plus on Thursday.

"As soon as they (Ukrainians - TASS) are trained, we will be ready to hand over the equipment to the Ukrainian side," he said. "I am certain that this can happen within a matter of several weeks."

On January 25, the United States announced its intention to provide 31 M1 Abrams tanks to Kiev. The German government confirmed that it would send 14 Leopard 2A6 tanks to Ukraine from the Bundeswehr reserves and issue re-export permits to other countries. The defense ministries of Norway and Slovakia also announced their intention to dispatch tanks to Ukraine.
