UNITED NATIONS, January 23. /TASS/. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres condemned the protest in Stockholm that involved the burning of the Quran, Guterres’ spokesman Stephane Dujarric said during a briefing Monday.
"The Secretary General fully supports the statement made by mister [Miguel] Moratinos, the head the Alliance of Civilizations, who firmly condemned this act - burning of the Holy Koran - which is yet another symbol of the growing hate that we have been seeing against many religions - Islam, Judaism and others. Such acts should be clearly condemned and we do so," Dujarric said.
The Alliance of Civilizations is a structure within the UN, established in 2005, for strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation relations between countries and people of different cultures and religions.
