MINSK, May 5./TASS/. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko believes that the status of Ukraine’s eastern territories should be decided not by Kiev or Moscow, but by the people living there.

"Today it is neither Russia nor Ukraine that will be deciding (on the status of Ukraine’s east - TASS), but the people who live there. I doubt very much that they will want to return within Ukraine. They are very afraid, realizing what will happen to them, how they will be dealt with," Lukashenko said in an interview with Associated Press, cited partially by the Belarusian BelTA news agency.
