US, Ukrainian top military officials discuss American military aid for Kiev

According to the statement, Austin spoke with Reznik to affirm unwavering US support for Ukraine and to discuss the changing dynamics on the battlefield

MOSCOW, April 5. /TASS/. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin discussed in a telephone conversation with Ukrainian Defense Minister Alexey Reznik American military support for Ukraine, Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said in a statement.

According to the statement, Austin spoke with Reznik to "affirm unwavering US support for Ukraine and to discuss the changing dynamics on the battlefield."

"Secretary Austin reiterated the U.S. commitment to the provision of defensive lethal assistance to bolster Ukraine’s capacity to defend itself," Kirby said in the statement. "Secretary Austin highlighted the recently announced $300 million Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative package, bringing the total US security assistance commitment to more than $1.6 billion…"

According to the statement, Austin "reiterated the US commitment to use every tool available to document and share information" in regard to the recent situation in Bucha (in the Kiev region) and in other regions of Ukraine.
