VILNIUS, April 4. /TASS/. Lithuanian authorities consider shutting down border with Russia and Belarus amid the events in Ukraine, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis told reporters Monday.
"Discussions are underway. I cannot name any specific date. We will make an announcement once decisions that are yet to be developed are made," he said, adding that "it is too early to talk about it yet."
On Monday, Landsbergis announced that the government made a decision to lower the status of the Russian diplomatic mission: Russian Ambassador to Lithuania was ordered to leave Vilnius, while Lithuanian envoy was also recalled from Moscow. The republic will also shut down Russian consulate general in Klaipeda.
Lithuania only borders the Kaliningrad Region of Russia.
