ROME, October 31. /TASS/. The Group of Twenty leaders have spoken in favor of supporting gender equality and the expansion of women’s rights and possibilities, according to the G20 Rome Leaders’ Declaration adopted on Sunday.
"We reaffirm our commitment to gender equality and emphasize the pivotal role of women’s and girls’ empowerment and leadership at all levels for inclusive and sustainable development," the document says. "We commit to put women and girls, who have been disproportionately affected by the pandemic, at the core of our efforts to build forward better."
The leaders stressed the necessity of efforts in such areas as ensuring equal access to education, promoting women’s entrepreneurship, eliminating gender-based violence, and overcoming gender stereotypes and uneven distribution of unpaid domestic work.
