Rallies for and against PM held in central Yerevan

Police and security forces are at the site, there are no clashes or provocations

YEREVAN, November 18. /TASS/. Hundreds of supporters of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have gathered in Yerevan’s Republic Square Wednesday evening, calling to prevent his resignation, TASS reports.

"Nikol is Prime Minister! He should not go, everyone who demands his resignation are supporters of previous authorities. We will not allow that he goes. He was elected by people," the rally participants are chanting.

A different rally is taking place approximately 300 meters away. More than 1,000 opposing Yerevan residents want the prime minister to resign. According to them, Pashinyan, who recently signed the trilateral statement on the Nagorno-Karabakh ceasefire, "ceded Armenian territories to Azerbaijanis."

Police and security forces are at the site, there are no clashes or provocations. People are only shouting slogans and are not trying to start conflicts with each other.
