CAS extends disqualification of retired biathlete Slepov

The athlete is disqualified for 2 years from September 5, 2023, with 1 year of disqualification credited for the period of disqualification served

MOSCOW, September 25. /TASS/. The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has disqualified retired Russian biathlete Alexey Slepov for two years for violating anti-doping rules, the press service of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) reported.

The CAS overturned the earlier decision of the RUSADA Disciplinary Anti-Doping Committee of September 30, 2021 to disqualify Slepov for 12 months. The athlete was penalized for violating the procedure for providing information about his whereabouts. CAS decided to disqualify the athlete for 24 months starting from the date of the decision, from September 5, 2023, crediting him with the 12 months he already served.

Slepov, 36, won the European Championships three times and was the overall winner of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Cup in the 2013/14 season. The biathlete retired in March 2021.
