MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Dmitry Hvorostovsky’s debut at the Moscow Bolshoi in Giuseppe Verdi’s Don Carlos, scheduled for December 7 and 10, has been canceled due to the singer’s illness, a source in the vocalist’s entourage familiar with the situation has told TASS.
"Regrettably, Hvorostovsky’s long-awaited performance on the Bolshoi’s stage will not take place due to the singer’s illness," the source said.
All other performers, for whom it will be the first appearance in a Bolshoi stage production, too, will feature in Don Carlos both on December 7 and 10 as planned: Hiba Gerzmava as Elisabeth de Valois, Yekaterina Gubanova as Princess Eboli and Ildar Abdrazakov as Philippe II, King of Spain. Hvorostovsky was expected to sing the role of Don Carlos.
