Almost 14,500 Ukrainian citizens enter Russia in January-June 2026

The majority of crossings occurred via air travel, with 14,301 people arriving by plane

MOSCOW, August 6. /TASS/. Between January and June 2026, nearly 14,500 Ukrainian citizens entered Russia - a decrease of approximately 1,800 compared to the same period last year, according to statistics reviewed by TASS.

During this six-month span, 14,473 Ukrainians crossed the Russian border. Notably, there was an increase of 3,191 entries in the second quarter compared to the first. The primary reasons for these visits were private affairs (13,838 individuals) and business purposes (429). Tourism accounted for only 58 entries. The majority of crossings occurred via air travel, with 14,301 people arriving by plane, 136 by car, and 36 on foot.

Compared to the first half of 2025, when the number of Ukrainian entrants was higher, there was a decline of 1,752. Despite this, private visits remained the predominant motive, with 15,338 Ukrainians traveling for personal reasons last year, predominantly by air.

Starting October 16, 2023, Ukrainian citizens wishing to enter Russia from third countries are restricted to two points of entry: Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport and the Ludonka automobile checkpoint in the Pskov Region. All travelers undergo rigorous screening, including questionnaires and electronic device inspections.
