FSB prevents Ukrainian terrorist attack in Belgorod against official from Kharkov Region

The suspect underwent special training in Kiev, including organizing caches, surveillance, handling explosives, and concealment methods

MOSCOW, July 28. /TASS/. Officers of the Federal Security Service (FSB) have prevented a terrorist attack in Belgorod against an employee of the military-civil administration of the Kharkov Region, detaining a 63-year-old agent of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in connection with the crime, the Public Relations Center reported.

The suspect underwent special training in Kiev, including organizing caches, surveillance, handling explosives, and concealment methods. He was tasked with blowing up a car belonging to a Kharkov Region official. He retrieved components of two improvised explosive devices from a cache and stored them at his residence. He then surveilled the target and transmitted data to SBU handlers via Telegram.

A criminal case has been opened under articles on high treason, preparation of a terrorist attack, undergoing terrorist training, and illegal possession of explosives. The suspect faces up to life imprisonment. The FSB reiterated that those who voluntarily warn authorities or renounce such crimes may be exempt from liability.
