Investigative Committee has data on 3,300 mercenaries fighting for Ukraine — chief

Alexander Bastrykin pointed out that the Russian Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of 101 criminal cases against foreign mercenaries who took part in hostilities on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces for financial reward

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. The Russian Investigative Committee has information on the participation of more than 3,000 mercenaries in the fighting with Russia on the side of Ukraine, the agency’s head, Alexander Bastrykin, told TASS in an interview.

"The investigation has received information on the participation in the armed conflict of about 3,300 mercenaries from more than 70 countries, including 712 Georgians, 694 Britons and 719 Canadians. On the basis of the collected evidence, 871 mercenaries have been indicted, 652 are wanted internationally," he said.

Bastrykin pointed out that the Russian Investigative Committee has completed the investigation of 101 criminal cases against foreign mercenaries who took part in hostilities on the side of the Ukrainian armed forces for financial reward. Courts have passed guilty verdicts against 72 mercenaries from 15 countries.
