MOSCOW, February 25. /TASS/. Two French citizens have been detained in relation to Monday’s terrorist attack on the Russian consulate in the French city of Marseille, Consul General Stanislav Oransky said.
"I got a phone call from the police prefecture yesterday evening that both suspects had been detained at a pro-Ukraine rally in the city center. <...> This morning, news came that they are both French nationals," he told the Rossiya-24 TV channel.
A spokesperson for the consulate general told TASS earlier that on Monday morning, unidentified individuals had thrown three objects onto the premises of the diplomatic mission, and two of them exploded. The incident caused no casualties or damage to the consulate’s building. Police cordoned off the area, which was searched by bomb disposal experts. They carried out two controlled explosions of suspicion objects. Russia’s Investigative Committee launched a criminal investigation into the attack on the consulate general.
