NEW YORK, December 31. /TASS/. Mankind may face problems related to the declining coverage rate of the population y key vaccines and the decreasing herd immunity as early as in the near future, Professor of the School of Systems Biology of the George Mason University Ancha Baranova told TASS in an interview.
"We will face problems related to our declining coverage rate of the population by main vaccines as early as during the next several years. I do not speak about the coronavirus vaccine; this refers to poliomyelitis, pertussis, meningitis, and measles," the expert said. People often have wrong understanding of the vaccination purpose, she noted.
"This action targets health of the population and not an individual. If we vaccinate the whole population, it will nevertheless have approximately 3% of people not having immunity generated irrespective of vaccination," the professor said.
"As soon as our vaccination rate drops to 85-87%, these 3% of the people will be exposed to infections against our degree of crowding in cities," Baranova added.
