HAIKOU /China/, February 5. /TASS/. Authorities of the southern Chinese province of Hainan will continue working on opening new direct air routes to Russian cities in 2024the provincial government's press service told TASS.
"Russia is one of the major contributors of passenger traffic to [the island of] Hainan. Respective provincial departments are now promoting the addition of new direct flights with key Russian cities through each other's channels. According to available information, Hainan Airlines intends to establish passenger flights from Haikou and Sanya to Moscow in the future," the press office said, adding that in 2024, work will also continue to promote Hainan's tourism potential in the Russian market to strengthen exchanges in culture and tourism.
Currently, Russia and the Chinese province of Hainan are connected by one direct air route. Russian airline Aeroflot flies between Moscow and Sanya twice a week. This route was reopened on December 28, 2023. To date, the flight from Moscow to Sanya and back has carried more than 6 thousand passengers, according to the press service of the Hainan government.
