MELITOPOL, January 24. /TASS/. Ukrainian troops have stopped shelling civilian facilities in the Zaporozhye region after Russia’s successes along the combat engagement line, Vladimir Rogov, leader of the We Are Together with Russia movement, said on Tuesday.
"The key successes in the Zaporozhye direction: the entire first line of Ukraine’s defense and to a large extent even the second and third lines have been repelled. There is a lull in the Zaporozhye region cities, with no shelling attacks reported in the past several days. When we have the initiative, Zelensky’s militants never fire at peaceful cities, they defend themselves or desert their positions," he said in an interview with the Solovyov Live television channel.
Earlier in the day, Rogov said that Russian troops had advanced along a 30-kilometer section of the combat engagement line in the Zaporozhye region.
Fighting in the Zaporozhye region intensified dramatically on January 20 when four Orekhovo neighborhoods were taken under control by Russian forces. On the same day, the Russian defense ministry reported the liberation of the settlement of Lobkovoye in the Zaporozhye region. It was reported on Monday that the village of Kamenskoye, located 25 kilometers from the Kiev-controlled city of Zaporozhye, was liberated by Russian troops.
