KIEV, January 20. /TASS/. About 10% of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure has been completely destroyed and another 50% of facilities have been damaged, the Klimenko Time media outlet reported on Friday, citing DTEK Energy Group Executive Director Dmitry Sakharuk.
Ukrainian households are on average 50% short of electric power, he added.
In this situation, air defense systems are a necessary component for the survival of the Ukrainian energy system, he said.
The national power utility Ukrenergo regularly reports substantial shortages in the country’s power system. Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal said on January 18 that over a half of the country’s energy facilities had been damaged.
