Over 17,000 people evacuated from Ukraine, DPR, LPR to Russia in past day

It is noted that most people who are forcibly kept by nationalists in Ukrainian cities are looking for any possibility to be evacuated to Russia

MOSCOW, April 11. /TASS/. More than 17,000 people, including more than 2,500 children, were evacuated from dangerous regions in Ukraine, and from the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics to Russia during the day, Mikhail Mizintsev, chief of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said on Monday.

"Despite the difficulties and obstacles created by Kiev, during the day, as many as 17,117 people, including 2,560 children, were evacuated from dangerous zones in various Ukrainian regions, and from the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics to Russia. Since the beginning of the special military operation a total of 740,219 people, including 140,623 children, have been evacuated," he said.

According to Mizintsev, some 3,082 private cars crossed the Russian border on Monday and 96,416 since the beginning of the operation.

A total of 135,659 people have been saved from Mariupol via a humanitarian corridor in the easterly direction, including 696 during the past day, he said.

He noted that most of people who are forcibly kept by nationalists in Ukrainian cities are looking for any possibility to be evacuated to Russia. "Over the past day alone, the Russian side received 934 such requests," he said, adding that the database has 2,745,539 names from 2,126 settlements in Ukraine.
