Hainan’s Sanya city kicks off large-scale cultural fair

Diplomats from 11 countries including Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Mongolia will visit the event

HAIKOU /China/, Dec. 24. /TASS/. The city of Sanya on the southern coast of Hainan Island kicked off its Sixth International Cultural Industries Fair on Friday, which will be open until December 27, the Sanya Daily reported.

According to the newspaper, the event is organized by the Publicity Department of CPC Sanya Municipal Committee, the Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau, and the City Commerce Department, with the participation of the Chinese Cultural Promotion Society, the Publicity Department of CPC Hainan Provincial Committee, the Tourism, Culture, Radio, Television and Sports Bureau of the province, the Sanya Administration, the Hainan Writers and Art Workers Federation and the Hainan Trade Promotion Committee.

On the first day of the fair, Sanya’s authorities are planning to sign memorandums and agreements with cities in such counties as Belarus, Georgia and Uruguay, as well as with a number of leading Chinese companies engages in cultural activities on the Chinese and foreign markets. Diplomats from 11 countries, including Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Mongolia, are expected to visit the Sanya Fair.

One of the key events during the fair will be the One Belt, One Road exposition, where more than 40 countries and regions, including organizations and companies from Britain, Israel, Mongolia and France have been invited to participate. In addition, 19 of the 31 mainland China territories ranging from province to autonomous region will present their potential at the fair.

According to the organizers, Sanya’s Cultural Fair will include campaigns aimed at expanding the use of the digital yuan in mutual settlements. Ten major cultural institutions of the People's Republic of China engaged in the preservation, study and exhibition of folk cultural heritage will present their stands at the fair: the Sanxingdui Museum (Southwest Sichuan Province), the Beijing Metropolitan Museum, the Lu Xin House Museum, Palace of Culture of Nationalities, and Tsinghua University Art Museum, as well as regional institutions – Henan Province’s State Museums (Central China), Liaoning Provincial Museum and Jilin Museum (northeast), Shaanxi History Museum (north-west) and the Museum of the South China Sea (Hainan). 

Sanya’s International Cultural Industry Fair was first held in 2015 and, since then, it welcomed 542 thousand people from 116 countries, regions, and foreign countries free of charge. More than 1.3 thousand companies participated in the annual events. Diplomats from nearly 100 countries have seen the expositions. This year it is held on December 24-27 and is larger than the previous ones. The exposition area will be 33 thousand square meters, visitors can see about 50 thousand exhibits.
