Argentine company to produce 3 mln second doses of Sputnik V in August

RDIF and Richmond also announced that this week distribution of the vaccine made in Argentina will start on the territory of the republic, including 150,000 doses of the second component

BUENOS AIRES, August 3. /TASS/. The Argentine company Richmond will be able to produce 3 million doses of the second component of Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus by the end of the month. This was announced on Tuesday by the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) together with the company.

"Richmond is expected to be able to produce over 3 million doses of Sputnik V's second component in August," the joint statement said.

RDIF and Richmond also announced that this week distribution of the vaccine made in Argentina will start on the territory of the republic, including 150,000 doses of the second component.

"Samples of the vaccine made in Argentina have successfully passed quality control at the Gamaleya Center on August 3," the report says.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the Argentine media reports about the shortage of the second component of the Russian drug in the country. He said that Moscow’s obligations on the supply of vaccines to foreign markets, including to Argentina, "will certainly be fulfilled," but vaccination against covid among Russian citizens remains an unconditional priority.

In turn, RDIF said they are working on how "to continue the uninterrupted supply" of the vaccine.
