MOSCOW, January 29. /TASS/. Moscow’s hospitals for coronavirus patients will remain on standby at least until the next autumn and winter period, Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin said on Friday.
"Hospitals will remain on standby. We are not closing them, they will always be on high alert. I think until the next autumn and winter period. They will continue <…> so that we could be on the safe side," he said in an interview with the Vesti daily news roundup on the Rossiya-1 television channel.
According to the mayor, some of hospitals are switching to the routine operation mode. "We used to have 14,000 hospital beds for coronavirus patients. Now, around 9,000 of such beds are occupied," he explained.
Moscow is number one among Russian regions in terms of COVID-19 tally. According to the anri-coronavirus crisis center, the city has recorded 925,359 coronavirus cases, with 803,642 patients having recovered and 13,300 having died.
